Ideal Choice for Cable End Sealing: EPDM Cold Shrink End Caps
In on-site construction of power and communication engineering projects, sealing and protecting cable ends has always been a crucial aspect. Traditional heat shrink caps often require heating equipment or complex tools, resulting in low installation efficiency and potential problems such as weak seals and aging/cracking. Volsun EPDM cold shrink caps address this pain point, redefining the convenience and reliability of cable end sealing.
This cold shrink end cap uses highly elastic ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber as its main material, combined with a pre-expanded support strip structure. During installation, simply slip the cap onto the cable end and gently pull out the support strip for a tight seal. The entire installation process requires no open flame or hot melt adhesive and can be completed by one person within one minute. It is particularly suitable for complex working environments such as high altitudes and narrow spaces, significantly improving construction efficiency and reducing overall costs.
In terms of performance, EPDM cold shrink end caps exhibit excellent all-weather adaptability. They can withstand acid, alkali, ozone, and ultraviolet radiation, making them suitable for various harsh environments such as coastal areas, rainy areas, and highly polluted areas. Its low moisture absorption—only a 1.3% weight gain in 24 hours and a 3.2% weight gain in 7 days in 90°C water—effectively blocks moisture intrusion, preventing insulation failures in cables caused by dampness.
Furthermore, this cold-shrink cap possesses excellent mechanical strength, with a tensile strength of 9.8 MPa and a tear strength of 27 kN/m, capable of withstanding impacts and pulls during construction. Its antibacterial properties are verified by ASTM G-21 standards, showing no microbial growth after 28 days of exposure, preventing mold corrosion of cables in humid environments.
From low-voltage cables in power systems to communication optical cables and branch joints, to motor cables and sensor wiring in industrial equipment, and even vehicle wiring harnesses in new energy vehicles, EPDM cold-shrink caps offer precisely matched sealing solutions. For example, the Φ25 model is suitable for small-diameter cables of 11.6~20.9mm, while the Φ90 model covers a wider range of 26.0~84.3mm, meeting the sealing requirements of different scenarios.
As a truly "user-designed" sealing product, EPDM cold shrink end caps combine materials science and engineering expertise, offering a simple installation process, reliable all-weather performance, and flexible size options, making them the ideal choice for cable end protection.
